"D.J."

 Duke and Possum

It’s funny you should e-mail as Kalen and I have been talking about wanting to send some pictures of DJ to you.  In fact, Kalen took some pictures of DJ just a couple of weeks ago for that very reason.  In the pictures he is 7 months old and weighed in at 67 lbs.  He is heavier already and I don’t think we can hold him while standing on the bathroom scale much longer.

DJ is an awesome dog.  His temperament is exceptional.  Our children (4 and 6 years) love to play with him.  They will often wrestle together and he has always been gentle.  Grant (our 6 year old son) told me the other day, “Mom, thanks for getting a dog.  DJ is a good friend and I love him.”

DJ is extremely intelligent.  It has been fast and easy to train him.  Neighbors have always been amazed at how well he listens even when he was at a young age.  The other comment we hear all the time is how beautiful he is.  People often say how they have never seen a prettier Labrador.  I know I’m prejudiced but, I have to agree.

I went on your web site about a month ago and I was amused to read that Possum will shake hands when she wants attention as DJ does this often as well.  DJ took to the water with ease and he loves to swim.  He is perseverant in finding balls and sticks or anything else around that we have used to throw in the water for him to retrieve.

He is truly a wonderful dog.  We feel very fortunate to have found Deep South Labradors and have a dog from one of Duke and Possums litters.  We knew when we met Duke and Possum that their litters would be extraordinary and DJ is an example of that.

Enjoy the pictures of DJ.  Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.  We were wondering if sometime this fall we could bring DJ out to your place to visit.  It would be fun to see DJ’s new siblings after they are born.  Let us know if it would be ok to come and bring DJ.

 Fondly,

The Cooksons

"Murphy"

Duke and Dixie

Melina,

I just wanted to give you an update on Murphy!  He was a bit shy the first couple of days, but he has really come out of his shell.  We are having so much fun with him.  He has already claimed his "favorite" spots in the house: in front of the fireplace, between the sofa and ottoman, even on a shelf under the coffee table!  And he's growing like a weed; I have a feeling he's going to take after Duke:-)  Murphy is healthy and extremely smart!  Thanks for taking such care in breeding him; we couldn't be happier with our baby.

Here are some pics of the little guy!

Take care,

Joey

"Guinness"

Duke and Dixie

Sorry it took us so long to get pictures to you, but we have been very busy.  Having a puppy is a lot of time and work! :)  We couldn't be happier though.  Guinness is so wonderful, we love him so much.  He is a barrel of energy but he can also be the most snuggly, loving little guy.  He loves to swim in our pool and play fetch.

He is absolutely beautiful, everyone comments on how good looking he is.  He is also really smart and is coming along well with training.  He out shines all of the other puppies in the puppy class we take him to.  Of course Rick takes credit for his smarts! :)

Thank you so much for such a great dog!  If you ever want to use us as a referral, please feel free to.

Just thought I would share some photos of the puppy. My dad loves her.
Everything went well. They took her to the vet yesterday- he was very
impressed. Some of the photos are on the beach- others are at my folks
house on the lagoon.

 Thanks again, Tim

"Maddie"

Duke and Dixie

Hey Melina,

I am not sure if you remember us, but my husband and I bought a puppy from you guys this past July. She was part of Duke and Dixie's litter
that were born on May 31, 2005. You guys named her "Big Girl". Her name now is Miss Madison Gordon aka "Maddie". We just wanted
you guys to know how much we love her and how thankful we are to have found such a great dog. She is definitely active and has added so
much joy to our household. She is very sweet and tough all at the same time. She just turned 6 months not to long ago and she already
weighs 60 lbs. I think she may be taking after Duke.

Anyway, I have attached a few pictures of her so you guys can see how beautiful she is. We always get compliments on her shiny coat
and her strong features. We hope you guys are doing well and having a great holiday season. Keep us posted on when you are having
white lab puppies, I am sure we will be interested.

Thanks again,

Abby and David

her forth month of training in the field of search and rescue.  Of the
13 other dogs in her class, at the
half way point of this 6 months training she places third.  She’s
Great!!!!!!

You all take care.

"Butterbean"

Ox and Dixie

Hi Melina!

I just wanted to let you know that Butterbean is doing great and that everyone is really enjoying her.  She is so spoiled already!  She is always around people so she is always so sad if she has to stay home alone for even 10 or 15 minutes!   I have attached a picture of her.  She is getting so big!   We are having such a great time with her. I hope you and your new puppies are doing well.

"Jake" (right)

Duke and Possum

Melina,  A quick update.  Here's a photo of Jake with our other dog.
Jake is incredibly intelligent, tries to shake hands (like his mother)
whenever he wants anything, has only chewed up one throw rug.  He weighed 80
pounds at 6 months.

Mike

Melina,
Hard to believe Jake is one year old.  He's really turned into a great
family member.  He weighs 105 pounds and is great with other dogs,
children
and neighbors.  Although I'm not sure what he'd do if someone broke
into the
house, that person would have to be awful brave because he has a huge
bark.

"Hoosier" ~at one year old~

Duke and Possum

Hi Melina -

Hoosier already weighs 19 pounds!  He's bigger every time I look at him. He loves his squeaky toys!

He is fitting in real well at our house and is getting along pretty well with the cat. They ignore each other most of the time.

Hoosier finally figured out the steps and spent last evening going up and down, up and down...

He slept like a rock last night!

Have a good week!

Rita

Hi Melina -

Here's a picture of Hoosier on his first birthday last week 3/14/07.

He is 96 pounds and he's very tall.  Now that he's grown up he really looks like Duke and Possum, tall and lean.  He's a great family pet and we couldn't have gotten a better puppy!

Hoosier took 2 obedience classes and he caught on really fast.  He enjoys playing fetch with all the sticks in our backyard and LOVES to go to the local dog park.  There isn't a dog there that isn't his friend.

Our cat and Hoosier get along pretty well.  The cat still rules the house and the dog lets him so it works out just fine.  They both sleep with us every night - not much room for people when you get 966 pounds of dog in the bed!  We wouldn't have it any other way.

Hope everything is going well with you and all Hoosier's family and friends in Cartersville.  We check out your website every so often to see how everyone is doing :)

"Wren"

Duke and Possum

I hope your doing well?  I wanted to up date you on Wren, she is doing very well!!  I want to say she is about 85-90 pounds now and is non stop energy.  She loves the pool and camping.  She is doing great she is very well tempered and what a shock loves the water, she fully submerges her head under water like her Mom (she has gone about 5 ft down underwater to get her diving toy).  How is everything going on your end?  If it's OK with you guys I would like to bring Wren by sometime?  I have enclosed some pictures of her if you would like you can use them on your web page.  The yellow lab is Duke that is her boyfriend.

 Thank you,

 Slade

"Woody"                                               ~at six months old~

Ox and Fly

Hi Melina

Just wanted to send you some pictures of Woody, I sent some a couple of weeks ago but I'm not sure if you got them.

He weighs 15lbs now & is so much fun, he's really smart & pretty much potty trained.

Thank you again for everything, we are truly blessed to have found you & Woody.

I'll keep you updated on him as he gets older.

 Thank you

Shanda

"Moose"

Duke and Possum

Dear Melina,

So sorry I have taken so long to email, but we have been so busy.  Just wanted you to know how wonderful Moose is.  I'll forward some pictures soon--he's growing so fast.  We were able to keep him a secret from our son which was unbelievable.  I never realized how quick on my feet I could be with lying.  I had a great story going and Jason bought into it hook, line and sinker.  My husband was so impressed with me-- we were almost believing the story ourselves. HA! HA!  He looked at me at one point and said "That was good!"  Anyway, on Christmas Eve we had Johnny & Jen (our son and daughter in law you met), my parents, and our closest friends (Jana and her clan) and another family over for dinner.  We've been spending Christmas Eve together for years with these two couples and our kids have grown up together.  I thought that was the perfect time to give Jason Moose with everyone there.  We told Jason we had a present we wanted him to open early (I had wrapped a "Moose" dog toy).  When he pulled out this Moose stuffed animal, he just looked at me and wanted to know what it was.  Everyone was chanting "MOOSE, MOOSE, MOOSE!  At the same time, Moose came prancing in with a ribbon of bells tied around his neck high stepping like the Budweiser Clydesdales when he made his entrance. It was absolutely wonderful and he was perfect.  Everyone was screaming and laughing.  My husband got so excited, he forgot to take pictures even though he had his camera laying beside him so he could take pictures.  Jason was so thrilled when he finally realized Moose was his.  He is a great "Dad" and treats him like he would his child.  He and Moose are real buddies and I can't think of a better gift we have ever given him.  My husband, John,  also told Jason Moose was the best gift he had given him because he is a "Babe Magnet". John loves to take Moose to the pet store because every female in the place comes up and talks to him. My dog "Kodi" has turned out to be a really good little mother being very tolerant of him.  He aggravates the daylights out of her constantly, but she's been really good.  I have been surprised because she can be very alpha.  I think I told you already Jana got two great Danes just before we picked up Moose.  We took him over to meet them early on and they played and played.  He hung right in with those 2 BIG puppies.  They are a couple of months older than him, but he is tough.

I guess by now you can tell we all love this dog.  He is a very special member of our family.  I work near Jason's house so I go by and pick him up when Jason works late or works the weekends.  He drops him off when he goes off in the evening.  Moose gets all the attention he wants from all three of us.  John and I were really bad and let him sleep with us from the beginning--now he sleeps with Jason. But, he is so cute and snuggly early in the morning and at night and he slept all night so we never had one problem.  It's really fun being grandparents of a grand dog.

"Jackson"                                      ~at one year old~

Ox and Dixie

Sorry that it has taken me almost a year to get back with you guys, but I wanted you guys to know how much I appreciate the puppy you sold me last year from Ox and Dixie’s litter. You guys used to call him Lunker, Fatty and Tubbo, and while he still gets called Lunker from time to time he mainly just goes by Jackson. Jackson was the first lab I have ever had and I couldn’t ask for a better dog. Everywhere I go I constantly get compliments about how beautiful his coat is and how even tempered he his. He truly is my best friend and he loves going up to the lake and riding jet skis almost as much as going up to the farm and chasing four wheelers. So once again thanks for such a wonderful dog and attached are some pictures of Jackson at various ages. The first picture was taken last week and he weighed 88 pounds.

 -Thanks so much

Justin

"Buster"

Duke and Possum

I bought a chocolate lab from y'all about 2 years ago.  Son of Possum/Duke and he was the last one on the litter, it must have been march 2005 when I got him, his birthday was 1/25.  I named him Buster.

He has turned out to the be the best choc lab I could have ever wished for. He is like a lapdog in the house, but is a beast in the water and out with other dogs.  He hasn't a mean bone in his body, but he's so big that he intimidates most other dogs and he's extremely loyal.  Right now he weighs about 110-115lbs.  He loves, loves to swim and I can't keep him out of the water.  People all over town that I don't even know ask about him, even from 2 years ago when I had him in the front yard working with him just a pup.  He received more Christmas presents this year than I did.  My whole neighborhood loves him.  They ask more questions about him than they do me.  He is quite the cult hero among his followers here in Atlanta.

Everyone I know, knows that he is the best dog possible, from pup 'til now, he's been a dream.   I carry him to a dog park by my house at least 3-4 times a week and he runs, jumps and plays for about 1hr. until his tongue is literally almost dragging the ground, he cries every time I get close because he can tell we are close to him just cutting lose for an hour or so.  Re: your story about Petsmart, ole boy Buster got tangled up in one of those cardboard displays and upended the whole thing with the leash trailing and didn't even look back as toys and balls went up in the air and all over the store, he was making a B-line for the back area where other dogs were.

He has never chewed on one thing and has many natural instincts.  Words just can't describe how happy I am with him.  You can have anyone call me as well if they have any questions.

I have attached some pictures for you to see his progress.  Thanks again for him.

Joshua

"Knox"                                       ~at six months old~

Duke and Possum

Hi Melina,

Here is a photo of Knox at 11 weeks old. He adjusted really well to coming back home after spending the week with you. He is very affectionate and playful now – more so than even before. We've continued "sitting" "down" "shake" and "high-five." Everyone is especially impressed with "high five." He's also learning "come" very well. He is the best dog, and I just love him!! The other day he went to my tennis match with me. He sat on the court and watched the match and only whined just a little bit. After the match he discovered the tennis ball and chased it for a while. He behaved so well that our opponents actually asked for your name and contact info!

Hope to catch up with you soon. Just wanted to share this great photo!

 Charlotte

Hi Melina,

I hope you are doing well.  I wanted to share some recent photos of Knox.  He is so handsome and is still the best dog!!!  He has many friends in my condo complex – especially another chocolate lab named Daisy who is three weeks younger than him.  They play hard together almost every single day and absolutely love each other.  We go for hikes at the river and walks at Chastain Park .  At 6 months, he is now 58 pounds.  He loves ice cubes, his squeaky tennis ball, and playing with his friends.  I hope to stop by sometime in the near future so he can see Duke, Possum and Little Dixie.  Take care!

"Charlie and Joey"

Ox and Fly

Melina,

I just wanted to shoot you a note to tell you how glad Drew and I are that we decided to get two puppies.  They have been little angles together and they are growing up so quickly.  Charlie and Joey do everything together and are quick learners.  They learned how to sit at 7 weeks old and lay down at 8.  They are fully potty trained and are great with all people and other animals.

I thought you guys may enjoy a few pictures of the girls so here are a few of my favorites!

 Thanks,

 Jill

"Tucker"

Ox and Fly

Hey Melina!

Just wanted to write you a short note and tell you how well Tucker is doing!  He is exceptionally smart.  You can tell him to go get his "Ribbit," his little
croaking frog, and he'll go find it and bring it to you.  He was pretty much potty trained by the time he was 8 weeks old.  Everyone is always saying how
beautiful and soft his coat is, and they love his personality.  He knows that he rules the roost around here!  He'll be 5 months old in a few days and he is
just at 50 pounds.  I'm including a short video of him swimming up in GA, so I hope that you can open it, along with a few pics.  Just let me know if you can’t
open them, and I can send them again!  It was great getting to know you and maybe I will be in the market for another lab once I finish school.  I would love to
bring Tucker to visit one day! He would love it, I'm
sure!

Take care,
Dana

"Jack"                                                                                                  ~at one year old~

Duke and Possum

Hey Melina,

I really wanted to update you and definitely be a reference for you!!  I can’t wait to get another puppy - maybe in the next year or two.

I have Jack from Possum and Duke born March of 2006, and he has been the love of my life for a year and a half now.

EVERYONE loves Jack.  EVERYONE.  I bring him to work as often as I can and he is a huge hit in the whole building.  He just brightens up everyone’s day.

He has such a happy expression on his face all the time, and is completely entertained by the smallest things.

You have never seen a dog that loves other dogs the way Jack does.  He never licks people, but he kisses other dogs in the face until they can’t stand it.

He loves to play fetch, but wants nothing more than to be chased around by other dogs.  He steals their toys just for attention.

He is so entertaining at the dog park and gets so many compliments everywhere we go.

He is a good smart boy and a big dummy at the same time.  He still has the innocent, curious and clumsy puppy personality – even at 90 pounds!!

There is never a dull moment in my house, and everywhere Jack goes he is the absolute center of attention.

I can’t wait to get him a little brother or sister.  I hope I get as lucky with the next one as I have with Jack.  He is one in a million.

"Pearl and Sable"

Little Dixie and Ox

Melina,

Things are going great with the girls.  They are growing so fast, it’s as if they are transforming right before our very eyes.
Pearl is the wild one and Sable is the total opposite.  Pearl has no fear, will jump right into the creek or pond while
Sable is very cautious.  As you see here, Pearl dove right in the creek and Sable tip-toed in for a drink. They are inseparable, so
happy, never whine unless they are very tired, usually after a long outing hiking around the property and water.
Funny how they can go from full speed ahead to crash and burn in a short amount of time, especially after hiking around.
Pearl weighed 15.5 and Sable 17.3 at their vet visit last week.
